Advance reservation and distance: how will we relax on the beaches this summer
The coastal resort town of Canet den Berenguer, Spain, hopes to open its beaches in June. For this purpose, a new reservation system will be used to distribute seats so that visitors can keep a distance, writes Travel + Leasure.

Canet den Berenguer, a Mediterranean beach town near Valencia, will install a marking system with a grid in the sand, which can be used only by reservation. Those who want to get a seat will need to download the app to reserve a place and time.
“This summer will be different,” Pere Joan Antoni Jordà, the mayor, told CNN. — There will be more space between vacationers. Like business class on the beach.”
According to Chorda’s plan, a network system will be installed around the sand, framing square areas that visitors can book. The distance between them is 5 feet (1,8 meters).
On the beach, 5000 people a day will be allowed, which is about half of its usual capacity. People who can get one of the 5000 seats will have the opportunity to book a seat in the morning or noon, but not both. Arrival times will also be offset to avoid crowding at the entrance to the beach.

When visitors arrive at the beach, they will need to check in to confirm their reservation. After registration, sunbathers will be taken to their seat to avoid confusion and unnecessary mixing between sunbathers.
On the other side of the country, the Atlantic beaches of Sanxenxo plan to restrict the flow of holidaymakers in turn. The beach will also be divided into sections, with wooden barriers and cords marking squares, each of which is divided by at least 5 feet (1,5 meters). Sections for couples as well as larger sections for groups of people will be offered.
Cities hope to open their beaches in June, but cannot announce the exact date until quarantine in Spain is completely lifted. Spain leaves the regime of restrictions in four stages.
