Most Americans favor the death penalty for Tsarnaev

According to a survey conducted by CNN, most Americans consider Johard Tsarnaev guilty on all 30 counts. The respondents are convinced that for everything that happened at the Boston Marathon in 2013, the guilty party must incur the death penalty.

Opinions were divided between those who would put Johard in prison for the rest of his life - 45%, and those who would execute him - 53%.

Residents of the northeastern part where the tragedy occurred are more severely punished than others: 58% say that he should face death, 38% that he should be in prison for life. Elsewhere, 52% advocate the death penalty, and 47% say that the Tsarnaev should get a life sentence.

In addition to the regional one, a demographic split is also noticeable. Men are 57% more likely to pursue the death penalty, while women are 49% more likely. Those who did not go to college support the death penalty - 59%.

The CNN survey was conducted by telephone April 16-19 among random people in the national sample of 1018 adults. The question about Tsarnaev was asked by 510 to the respondents and has a sampling error of plus or minus 4,5% item.
