More than 40% of Ukrainians want to join NATO
More than 40% of Ukrainians are in favor of Ukraine joining NATO.
This is evidenced by the results of the All-Ukrainian public opinion poll, which was announced today by Vladimir Paniotto, General Director of the Kiev International Institute of Sociology.
According to the survey results, if a referendum on Ukraine's accession to NATO were held in March, 43,3% of Ukrainians would support this decision, and 33,4% would vote against. 9,6% would not vote. Refused to answer this question or hesitated - 13,7%.
At the same time, the survey showed that only in the West the majority of the population supports joining NATO - 63%, while 14,9% would vote against.
In the center, the share of supporters of joining NATO is 47,3%, 29% would vote against. In the south, 24,7% would vote for joining NATO, and 54,8% would vote against. In the east, 26,2% are in favor of joining NATO, 49,5% are against.
The survey was conducted from February 26 to March 11 2015.
The method of the interview was personally interviewed by 2040 respondents living in 110 settlements in all regions of Ukraine, except Crimea.
In the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, the survey was conducted only on unoccupied territory.
