More than 38 thousand people will receive US citizenship as part of the celebration of Constitution Day

From 16 to 23 September, around the US cities will be held around 240 citizenship ceremonies. The events are dedicated to the celebration of Constitution Day (or, as it is also called, United States Citizenship Day), which is traditionally celebrated on September 17.

On this day in 1787, at the National Congress in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a new document was created - the US Constitution, which was eventually signed as the basic law of the state.

New US citizens in the coming days will be more than 38 thousand people.

The head of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Leon Rodriguez, said that he was honored to organize naturalization ceremonies throughout the country, whose new residents intend to support and defend the Constitution of their country.

The report on the USCIS website also notes that the Constitution creates equal opportunities for immigrants who receive citizenship and other US citizens.

One of the ceremonies will take place on September 16 at the Jefferson Memorial in Washington. It will become the 100, already in a row, held on the territory of one of the historical landmarks or one of the national parks, in the year of the centenary of the United States National Parks Service.

The ceremony will be held personally by the head of USCIS Leon Rodriguez.

In addition, naturalization ceremonies will be held in partnership with the administration of the US Federal Courts with the participation of federal judges in such iconic places as the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, Ellis Island (New Jersey) and Yosemite National Park (California).

Ceremony guests will include the head of NASA, former astronaut Charles Bolden and Mary Giovagnoli from the US Department of Homeland Security.
