Militants announced the end of the war in the Donbass

The representative of the self-proclaimed Donetsk “People’s Republic” (DPR) Denis Pushilin announced the actual end of the war in Donbass. Thus, he assessed the signing of an agreement on the withdrawal of weapons with a caliber of less than one hundred millimeters from the line of contact of the parties to the conflict.

The agreement provides for the creation of a buffer zone of thirty kilometers. “Proceeding from this, it will be extremely difficult to exchange attacks, it will be very difficult for the Ukrainian side to provoke our units,” said Pushilin.

“Basically, in my opinion, this could mean the end of the war,” said a DPR spokesman.

An agreement on the withdrawal of weapons with a caliber of less than one hundred millimeters was concluded on September 29 at a meeting of the contact group on the settlement of the conflict in the Donbas.

Under the terms of the agreement, within fifteen days, tanks should be withdrawn from the line of contact. Then within 24 days, artillery and mortars should be set aside.

The military conflict in eastern Ukraine began in April 2014 of the year and continues to this day. Militants control part of the territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions.

15 February 2015 in the Donbass, according to the Minsk agreements, a truce was declared by all parties to the conflict, but it was not possible to achieve a complete cease-fire. In a number of settlements in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the fighting continued, but from September 1 in the Donbas established the most peaceful for all the time of the fighting situation.
