A businessman from New York is feeding the homeless in a shelter in which he once lived.
Former homeless, and now the owner of a network of pizzerias Champion pizza in New York, Hakki Akdeniz delivered over a hundred cheese pies to a homeless shelter Bowery Mission.
In this institution, he lived a few years ago, when he first came to the United States, and he did not have the opportunity to rent a house, writes NY1.
According to the man, he wanted to provide the residents of the shelter with hot food, which is very important in the conditions of severe cold that came to New York in early January.
“I know what it’s like to be there, to suffer. Most people didn't choose this place, they simply have nowhere to go. I did this to inspire other people so they can do the same,” Akdeniz said.
According to him, many New Yorkers help the orphanage without asking for anything in return.
Akdeniz opened the first pizzeria in 2009 and now owns several restaurants in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
