The unmanned vehicle that killed the pedestrian did not know that people could violate traffic rules

СUber self-driving car in 2018 knocked down in Arizona, the 49-year-old Elaine Herzberg, when she was across the road at 100 meters from the crosswalk, because she could not recognize her as a pedestrian. But the system did not classify her as a pedestrian, "because she crossed the road in a place where there is no pedestrian crossing." A second before the collision, the system identified the situation as emergency, but did not turn on emergency braking, and notified the operator in the cabin of the unmanned vehicle about this.

The documents say that the operator at the time of the accident distracted off the road and could not take control.

Uber previously acknowledged that a fatal accident in Arizona was due to car software settings.
