The White House fired an employee after a joke about McCain's disease

White House employee Kelly Sadler, who worked as a public relations assistant, was fired after joking about the illness of Republican Senator John McCain, who fights brain cancer, writes NBC News.

“Kelly Sadler is no longer employed by the Executive Office of the President,” White House Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah said.

The White House initially refused to comment on Sadler’s unsuccessful joke, which she voiced last month.

In May, she said that McCain’s opinion on Gina Haspel’s candidacy for the post of head of the CIA doesn’t matter, because “he dies anyway.”

The White House did not comment on the words of Sadler, but at the same time issued a statement with words of support addressed to 81-year-old McCain.

McCain has not appeared in the Senate for several months, he lives in his house in Arizona, trying to resist the aggressive form of brain cancer.

The inhuman comment by Sadler angered Senator Cindy McCain’s wife, and also caused condemnation from politicians from both parties.

Cindy McCain wrote a post in her microblog Twitterby addressing him to sadler.

“I would like to remind you that my husband has a family, 7 children and 5 grandchildren,” the post said.

“People wondered when this administration's level of integrity would reach its lowest point. This happened yesterday,” said former Vice President Joe Biden, commenting on the statement of a White House employee.

McCain's daughter, Megan, condemned the White House for not firing Sadler.

“I don’t understand what kind of environment you have to work in for such statements to be acceptable, and you can come into the office the next day as if nothing had happened and keep your job,” she said.

However, according to sources The New York TimesSadler was asked not to leave the White House because of a joke about McCain.

The woman allegedly informed the president that the director of strategic communications for the White House, Mercedes Shlapp, was draining information to the press.

The tension between the employees reached the extreme point, Sadler and Shlapp allegedly could not be in the same room together, so one of them was fired.

At the same time, White House adviser Kelliann Conway said that the administration had many other vacancies that could be occupied by Sadler, and that she was allegedly given the right to choose.
