In the US, a beer made from bear poop was released for the Super Bowl: the resulting drink has notes of blueberry and honey.

Two Portland-based companies, Columbia Sportswear and Breakside Brewing, have teamed up to create a beer brewed using bear poop ahead of the Super Bowl, the final game of the NFL season. Coin.

The drink was named Nature Calls, and Columbia claims it is likely the first such instance in brewing history.

To prepare this unusual product, the company reported, people were sent into the forest to collect American black bear excrement. The excrement was then added to the water used to brew beer at Breakside Brewing.

The brewers then purified the water to a safe state and brewed it into a beer described as a lager with "blueberry and honey notes."

"When we say 'designed for anything,' we mean anything," said Joe Boyle, president of Columbia Sportswear. "If Mother Nature throws bear poop at us, we'll ferment it into a cold beer. From the inside of the bear to your mouth: we make natural poop more digestible."

The beer will be available for sampling at the Columbia booth at Levi's Stadium during The Players Tailgate event in Santa Clara on Super Bowl day. And for locals looking to sample the new release, it will be available at Breakside breweries throughout Oregon.
