Biden Expands Obamacare: How It Will Affect Your Life

US President Joe Biden has pledged to make healthcare more affordable. As a result of his actions, the Department of Health and Human Services intends to renew registration under the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA) from February 15 to May 15. Writes about it CNN.

That would give Americans who missed the last enrollment period, which ended Dec. 15, access to Obamacare — and federal help to pay for them. About 15 million uninsured people will be eligible for assistance, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Biden has directed federal agencies to review many of the actions taken by his predecessor. These include policies that weaken the protection of people with pre-existing insurance and undermine the Obamacare or other health insurance markets.

The newly elected president wants agencies to review measures that make it difficult to participate in Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act, and reduce accessibility or financial assistance, including for dependents.

Agencies will also consider the need for additional action to improve and protect access to health care.

In addition, on Thursday, January 28, Biden signed a presidential memorandum to lift restrictions on access to abortion at home and abroad imposed and extended by the Trump administration.

Other actions

Biden also needs Congress to fulfill his campaign promises to increase the number of Americans insured by strengthening the Affordable Care Act.
