Car route that will show you all the wonders of New York's 10

Everyone is well aware of the Seven Wonders of the World - magnificent structures around the world that leave you speechless just by looking at them. But if you ask New Yorkers what the seven natural wonders can be found in New York State, they will answer: the state is too big to limit itself to the number 7. There are at least 10 of the most scenic places you can see in New York State with your own eyes, going on a trip along this route.

1. Osable Chasm (Ausable Chasm)

Known as the Grand Canyon of the Adirondack Mountains, Ausable Chest in Keeseville is America's oldest natural attraction! Since 1870, people from all over the country have come here to see the incredible mountain gorge and stunning scenery, writes Only in Your State. Throughout the year, you can hike the park's trails, trek through a canyon, or explore adventure trails that will keep you entertained. There's history and beautiful views, which is why Ausable Chasm earns a place of honor on our list.

2. Whiteface Mountain

The entire Adirondack Park belongs on the list of natural wonders of New York, but if you had to narrow it down to one creation of nature, it would be worth stopping at Whiteface. It is one of the 46 highest mountain peaks in the United States and the fifth highest mountain in New York State. You can drive around the area by car, bike, or walk up the mountain. Climbing to the top of Whiteface via an ancient stone staircase is an experience you will never forget.

3. Park Green Lakes (Green Lakes State Park)

Leave the Adirondack Park and head to what may be the state's most unique state parks. This place is an amazing gem to discover in the central part of the state, near Syracuse. Search the entire planet, and guess what? There are only a few lakes as beautiful as the ones you will find here. The water in these lakes is incredibly clear, making it possible to see the bottom. This year, the park is offering clear kayaks that can be rented for exploring the lakes.

4. Niagara Falls (Niagara Falls)

New Yorkers may have their favorite waterfalls, but you cannot deny the majestic beauty of Niagara Falls. This place attracts millions of visitors from around the world every year. Niagara Falls Park gives everyone the opportunity to see the great waterfall, take a look at neighboring Canada, see the many wonders of nature that you have not seen before. This is the oldest state park in the country, and you should definitely come here.

5. Letchworth State Park

One of the best parks in the whole country is located along one of the most picturesque rivers of the state of New York. This place draws you into the peace and tranquility of which West New York is made, envelops with the roaring sound of the three main waterfalls along the Genesee River and awakens to life in its magnificent green oasis. The park covers more than 14 000 acres (5600 hectares) and has more than 60 miles (almost 100 km) of hiking trails, and many more hotels and campgrounds.

6. Watkins Glen State Park

Letchworth may be known as one of the best state parks in our country, but if you drive to Watkins Glen, you'll quickly understand why so many people claim it's the most beautiful place you'll ever see in New York City. The park has a 2-mile (over 3 km) mid-gorge trail that passes nearly twenty waterfalls. You can walk along it and approach the running water - it all looks too fantastic to be real. This park is one of the reasons people fall in love with New York State.

7. Park Togannock Falls (Taughannock Falls State Park)

If you want to chase all the rabbits at once—and catch them all—a visit to Ithaca, the City of Waterfalls, is the best way to see as many of New York's natural wonders as possible in a short amount of time. Just outside the city center in Trumansburg is another famous park where you will find a breathtaking waterfall. The tallest free fall east of the Mississippi River, Taughannock has water flowing from 215 feet (65,5 meters).

8. Caves Dover Stone (Dover Stone Church)

One of the most easily accessible and stunning caves in the country is Dover Stone. The cave is easy to find in the town of Dover Plains; a simple walk will take you to an above-ground grotto that even has a waterfall inside. It's a good idea to bring rubber boots with you to fully enjoy exploring the magnificent cave.

9. Howe Caverns

If you love the game of opposites, after exploring the elevated cave in the Dover Plains, head to Howe Caves in Shokhari County, where you can descend below the earth's surface by as much as 156 feet (47 meters). You will pass through one of the deepest caves in the state and even take a boat trip on an underground lake!

10. Geyser Island Spouter Geyser Spring

End your journey through the state's natural wonders at a place known as the source of magic. Saratoga Park has a geyser spring, the only one found in New York State. It has been here since the early 1900s, but over the years the tuff deposits have increased in size, creating an entire island along Geyser Creek. The springs at Saratoga Park are known for their healing properties and a variety of health benefits. A worthy final point of your trip.
