For example, in Chicago, where rents are among the highest in the United States, a one-bedroom apartment near the University of Chicago will cost about $1 per month, near Northwestern University in the suburb of Evanston - $687. Prices, of course, are not as high as near most elite colleges. For example, the average price for an apartment in the Princeton University area is $1; near Stanford University it can be up to $909. ​​However, rent in Chicago is higher than near the University of Notre Dame - $4, or Washington University in St. Louis - $529.

In this regard, in the North-West University in the suburbs of Chicago, 50-60 hostels are being renovated. Young people are now striving for individuality and independence. That is why old campuses will look like luxury apartments with private bathrooms. Of course, off-campus housing has more benefits: a flat-screen TV, washing machines and dryers. But they are more expensive.

This week in the North-West University opened 800-room hostel, designed by renowned architect Jean Ganges. It features a rooftop garden and a café.

The national average last year for 4-year on-campus room and board was $10 at public colleges and $138 at private institutions. Currently the estimated price for 11 years room and board is $516, but at Northwestern University it is $4.

As a rule, students of the 1 course are happy to live on a university campus. They are attracted to dorm rooms where they can make new friends. Becoming older, they are already striving to become independent and independent. But autonomy is expensive.

A study by the Brookings Institution found that most students do not understand that costs will fall on their shoulders after graduation. In college, the majority have no idea how much money they have already spent out of a student loan.
