According to sources, the forecast for iPhone release in the first three months of 2019 decreased from 47 million to 40-43 million gadgets. We are talking about both old and new models. At the same time, for comparison, in January-March 2018, the Apple company released more than 52 million smartphones.

It is noted that the reason for the decline in production was the drop in demand for the iPhone, especially in China. Residents of China massively boycott American goods at the call of the country's leadership in response to the trade war with the United States. In addition, according to the Qualcomm patent lawsuit, a court in China ruled to ban the sale of current iPhone models in the country.

The problem for Apple, according to the publication, was also the constant rise in prices for basic iPhone models, despite the fact that these gadgets are no longer making technological breakthroughs to the extent that this happened during the release of the first iPhone models.

Due to declining demand for smartphones, Apple's revenues are also falling. At the very beginning of 2019, the company issued a forecast for a decrease in earnings for the first time in 16 years - and Apple's share price fell by 9%.

Nikkei recalls that recently Apple has already adjusted its production plans - at the end of December 2018, the company turned to suppliers with a request to reduce the production of components for iPhone models XS Max, XS and XR. And in November, 2018 Apple cut production of the iPhone XR due to low demand for this cheapest model of the latest line.
