American bombers hit the Islamic State headquarters with a selfie
The US Army was able to calculate the coordinates of the Islamic State's base of selfies, which one of the militants did on its territory.
After that, the US Air Force inflicted an air strike on the base of the group.
The Pentagon decided not to specify details about the location of the base, keeping the secret about the method of its determination by the specialists of the department.
General Hawk Carlsley explained to Defense Tech that the US Department of Defense has a special department whose employees regularly monitor social networks. He noted that the air strike was struck a day after the publication of the selfie on the Internet.
“Incredible work, when you think about it,” Hawk marveled.
The Islamic State (ISIL) began a stormy activity about a year ago. Terrorists widely use social networks for propaganda and recruitment. Militants regularly publish brutal videos of executions of civilians and journalists.
The other day, US Assistant Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that in the first nine months of the efforts of the international coalition in Iraq and Syria, more than 10 thousands of militants from the Islamic State were killed.
