American airline introduced a new rule for latecomers

American Airlines has a new policy that helps people who arrive on flights at the last moment and is perfect for people who hate airports.

US airlines have made significant changes this year, including eliminating nasty flight change fees. If you need to switch to another flight, you are highly dependent on the fare difference.

But what if you miss your flight entirely?

There has been a gray area for years on this issue, with some airlines saying, “This is not our problem,” and buying a new ticket was the only solution, while others were sympathetic and tried to put you on the next flight.

American Airlines is addressing anxiety by introducing a new "15-minute rule," according to View From The Wing.

The rule is that if you miss your flight but arrive at the airport within 15 minutes of its departure, American Airlines will confirm the next available flight to you. People arriving later than 15 minutes will be offered a standby mode.

The rule came into effect on April 20, 2021.

Obviously, if your only hope is this once-daily flight, the innovation won't help much. But if you fly on a regular flight, this is a godsend. At a time when few people want to linger in crowded public places, this rule provides a little extra comfort for those who like to arrive at the last minute.

According to VFTW, the policy is only valid for flights operated by American Airlines and codeshare flights of other airlines that have been booked with American flight numbers through American Airlines.

Change of destination is not allowed, but flights from another airport or to an alternative airport in the same city are allowed.
