A US court sentenced Russians to two years in prison for cyber fraud
A Boston court sentenced a Russian citizen Alexei Svetlichny accused of cyber fraud to two years in prison.
The court also appointed a 32-year-old man a fine of 425 thousand dollars. In addition, he will confiscate a Lexus car and other “expensive items” acquired illegally.
At the court session on March 10, Svetlichny, who used the nickname Joga on the Internet, pleaded guilty to Internet fraud amounting to more than four hundred thousand dollars.
According to the indictment, he and his accomplices received on the Internet forums where you can buy stolen information, bank card data. Pointing to the stolen data, the participants in the criminal group acquired various consumer goods.
The purchased goods were sent to fake buyers who were recruited through Russian-language social networks, who received money for further shipment of things to commercial mailboxes rented to Svetlichny. The criminals operated from March 2010 of the year to October of 2013.
