An old lady from New Jersey, for whom the unit was breathing, died due to a blackout for debts

A resident of New Jersey, who used an electric oxygen apparatus to maintain life support, died a few hours after PSEG cut off her electricity due to accumulated debt.

Desiree Daniels from New Ark just a week ago lost her father, who died of heart failure, and now her 68-year-old mother Linda was fading away before our eyes. Relatives laid ice bags to a seriously ill woman in order to somehow alleviate her condition. It was very hot, and breathing was difficult even for a healthy person, not to mention a patient in need of oxygen support, writes New York Post.

The main oxygen cylinder, which is connected to the electrical network, has failed due to a blackout. The family tried to help Linda, finding a small autonomous balloon, but he soon ended. The paramedics who came to the call tried to help the patient, at the same time the family cut off the telephones of the electric company, begging them to turn on the lights, but all this did not help.

Electricity was cut off due to the large debt of a woman in bill payments. By the end of May, her debt reached 1800 dollars. The company says it warned the client in advance about the power outage. According to a PSEG representative, the company raised the records up to the 2016 year, and according to their data, the woman or her family members did not report that she needed electricity for medical reasons: in these cases, the issue of switching off is considered in a special order.

PSEG asked all customers who have debts and medical circumstances requiring electrical supply to immediately contact the offices that serve them at home. The investigation into the incident continues.

Unfortunately, this case is not the only one. And this happens not only in America. In 2007, New Zealander Flole Muliaga died after her electricity was cut off for debt when her oxygen machine stopped working, causing her heart to stop. As in the case of Linda, the family, according to representatives of the electric company, did not communicate the special conditions that the woman needed, so the power was turned off without considering the possible consequences.
