Going to the Amazon Home Services Home Cleaning page, I chose the size of my house (1 bed, 1 bath) and the type of detergent that I prefer (I chose environmentally friendly). Then I received an estimate for my cleaning, and I was asked to select three dates along with a three-hour window of time that I would like to set.

As soon as I completed my order, I received a confirmation email with the selected date and time. There was also the name of my worker, a friendly woman with a wide smile named Amanda.

Cleaning day

When the day of cleaning came, Amanda wrote to me in the morning to inform her that she would arrive at 14:00. She came with a cleaning assistant and said that the standard package for cleaning the house that I booked was designed for two hours. Since there were two of them, they will do everything in an hour. Since I did not want to disturb them, I went about my business, and Amanda obligingly wrote me a message 10 minutes before they finished, to give me time to return home before they leave.

After cleaning

As soon as I returned, the cleaners asked if I wanted to go for a quick look at the result (to be honest, I was embarrassed, so I just said: “I'm sure everything is fine!”). About an hour later, I received an email with the final receipt of the service and the ability to leave feedback.

What I liked about cleaning an Amazon home

First of all, Amazon did a great job cleaning my apartment, from floor to stove. There was no dust and dirt on the floors, all the countertops were wiped, my rugs were vacuumed, and even the blankets were carefully folded. My apartment smelled really fresh and clean, and everything was neatly returned to its place.

Not only that, but the women were fast and incredibly friendly. I appreciated that they reported what time they would arrive (instead of making me wonder when they would arrive at the three-hour window, as many companies do), and that they started and finished on time.

Another bonus is that Amazon provides all the cleaning products (which in my case were environmentally friendly!). However, if you prefer certain products, Amazon notes that you can inform your cleaners and provide them with specified products when they appear.

What I didn't like about Amazon Home Cleaning

When it comes to cleaning your home, I am convinced that the bathroom is number one priority. Therefore, I was disappointed when, after the cleaners left, I found that my toilet seat was not wiped or cleaned. Fortunately, the bowl was cleaned, but not the seat itself. For me, this is a rather big omission, especially because it was noticeably dirty (I postponed the cleaning for two weeks in advance so that I could easily notice any forgotten spots).

Is Amazon Home Services worth the tidying up?

As a person who loves a clean home but really hates cleaning, I say yes, cleaning Amazon home is definitely worth the money. Besides the missed toilet seat, the cleaners did an excellent job, making my once dirty and dusty apartment fresh and clean. The price also seemed very reasonable, and I appreciated how professional and friendly the cleaners were.

However, since Amazon hires third-party cleaners, there is a risk of controversy. For example, if I again use the service and send another cleaner who would not be as thorough or well trained.

To summarize, based solely on my one-time experience with Amazon Home Services, I endorse it and will certainly use it again.
