Amazon told what privileges New Yorkers will receive from opening a company office in the city

On January 5, Amazon published an open letter to New Yorkers telling about the benefits of building the company's headquarters in Long Island City, which many New Yorkers oppose.

In a letter posted on Amazon site, the online retailer emphasized that the headquarters announcement was the beginning of "what we hope will be a long and mutually beneficial partnership between New Yorkers and Amazon."

The letter says that “investment details” that are beneficial for residents of the state, to which the company attributed the creation of 25 000 new jobs over 10 years; vocational training for local residents; more than 27 billions in local tax revenue; as well as helping small businesses.

The company explained the last advantage by the fact that more than half of the goods sold on Amazon belong to small and medium-sized businesses, moreover, the retail giant helps launch startups.

Amazon in the letter also promised to collaborate, listen, learn and work together with New Yorkers in the future.

The online giant announced in November that it had made a deal with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio to build their 4 million-square-meter headquarters. feet (372 thousands of square meters. meters) and the cost of 2,5 billion dollars, but this idea provoked protests from local residents.

Amazon may begin construction during 2019, although these plans will require state and community approval.
