Thousands of people prepaid for the 'Trump gold phone'; a year later, they still haven't received the device.
Hundreds of thousands of people who ordered T1 phones from the Trump Organization last summer still haven't received their devices. And most importantly, they don't know if they'll get a refund, writes New Republic.
The Trump-branded phone was unveiled in June 2025. Buyers were promised they would receive the device by September after a $100 down payment. However, eight months have passed, and they still haven't received anything. The website doesn't even list an estimated release date for the device.
"I'm a Trump supporter," a man says in a viral TikTok video. "To Donald Trump Jr. and Eric: Where's my phone? I ordered three, no, four gold phones last summer."
An estimated 590,000 people pre-ordered the device, generating approximately $59 million in revenue for the Trump Organization. However, refunds are unlikely to be forthcoming. NBC News journalists, after placing an order for review, encountered red tape and evasive responses from customer support when trying to determine the fate of the device. The company's updated terms and conditions allow for returns, but, as Popular Information reports, the hotline is largely unresponsive to such inquiries.
"600,000 people got the Trump phone? Nope. 600,000 people ordered it, paid $100, and still haven't received anything," wrote user X, under the handle MAGA Cult Slayer. "Where's the $60 million, Donnie?"
Meanwhile, the Trump Mobile website is still accepting applications, and those interested can still transfer money, although the phone program remains essentially just a paper program.
This is just the latest episode in a series of scandals and disappointments surrounding the project.
Donald Trump Jr. initially stated in an interview with podcaster Benny Johnson that the phones would be "made in the USA."
“We need to bring production back to the country,” he argued.
However, just a few weeks after the website's launch, any mention of US production disappeared from the device's description. Instead, a vague promise appeared that the device was "designed with American values in mind" and that "American hands are behind every phone"—phrases that essentially mean nothing concrete.

The Verge discovered that changes weren't limited to the device's origins. The stated screen size has shrunk from 6,78 to 6,25 inches, and information about RAM, originally listed as 12 gigabytes, has disappeared entirely from the updated specifications.
