An alligator entered a Louisiana home through a dog door in the middle of the night and scared the owners

Don and Jen Schultz recently moved from Arizona to their home in New Iberia, Louisiana. They were awakened by the barking of Panda's dog, which warned them of danger in the house. Writes about it ABC News.

Realizing that there was someone in the house, Don Schultz went down the corridor to check who the dog was barking at. He ended up finding a 5-foot (1,5 m) alligator.

The reptile entered the house through the dog door.

The owners called 911, and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries caught the intruder.

“We are very grateful to the sheriffs and department officials who came and removed this greedy creature from our home,” said Jen Schultz.

The couple recently purchased a pet door mechanism that only interacts with the dog's collar to prevent further incidents.

“We are taking precautions and are now installing a lockable dog door that only opens with a dog collar, so we won’t have that kind of surprise in the future,” said Don Schultz.
