The supermarket chain will open 120 new stores this year, according to the company. This is a huge jump from the 87 new outlets opened in 2022.
While the stores will be located throughout the US, according to the announcement, the company will be moving expansion to Louisiana cities such as New Orleans and Baton Rouge for the first time, according to the announcement. In January, Aldi opened a new distribution center in Alabama "to help support new stores in the area," it said.

Aldi has recently opened and plans to open several new stores along the Gulf Coast in states such as Alabama, Florida and Louisiana.
The opening of new stores by the end of the year will bring the total number of Aldi stores in the US to 2400 by the end of the year, the company said. According to a statement from top managers, it plans to hire about 2000 new employees to staff the reopened stores.
Founded in Germany by two brothers, Aldi has been developing its US store network for decades. It was one of the fastest growing grocery stores in terms of new store openings in 2022, according to real estate agency JLL. Others included Grocery Outlet, Texas chain HEB, and Publix.
Aldi's business model is based on stores that are several times smaller than the average Kroger or Walmart. The chain keeps prices low by switching between different in-store tasks, such as checkout and stocking, and by selling many private label products instead of big names.

The low prices in the supermarket have made it popular among shoppers.
“Inflation is undoubtedly driving unprecedented demand for affordable products, but we know that once customers get to Aldi, they and all future purchases will be with us,” said Jason Hart, CEO of Aldi USA.
The network has amassed enough fans that TikTok users were thrilled with Aldi-branded hats, windbreakers, and sandals when the grocer launched a new clothing line earlier this year.
