Airbnb begins to work fully in Cuba
Airbnb received official permission from the Obama administration to work in Cuba. This will allow travelers from all over the world to plan holidays by booking private houses in Cuba.
Airbnb was the first major American company to enter the Cuban market.
Initially, Airbnb could only be used by Americans who wanted to stay in private houses instead of hotels. For the year, the site added about 4 thousands of rental offers. Thus, Cuba has become the fastest growing company market.
The permission of the presidential administration will hit the local hotels that belong to Cuba, as tourists are looking for an alternative to them.
The expansion of Airbnb's functionality occurred at a historical moment - Barack Obama's official visit to Cuba. Obama became the first US head of state to visit Cuba in 88 years.
A day earlier, Starwood Hotels announced the launch of a project to build three of its hotels on Liberty Island. She became the first American company of its kind.
