ICE agents deported brothers who collaborated with the police
The change in US immigration policy under President Trump is evident in southwestern Detroit after an illegal Mexican immigrant who collaborated with police and prosecutors was deported.
In 2014, a shooting took place during a game of football. When football player Noah Lopez-Mulato scored a goal, he angered the spectator, who started shooting. This happened at Patton Park in southwestern Detroit.
As a result of the shooting, Lopez-Mulato himself was not injured, but the bullet went to his brother.
They went to the police, where they confessed that they were undocumented immigrants and witnessed the shooting. Arrow was prosecuted and put in jail, but now the brothers were arrested by agents of the US immigration and customs service.
They were deported last week, and their attorney, Michael Harrison, is outraged.
“It’s shocking that they would operate under these circumstances in this way,” Harrison said of the federal agency.
Lawyers sought the issuance of a visa to Lopez-Mulato and his brother, which would allow them to become US citizens, but to no avail.
“These policies send a negative message to society,” Harrison said. “Don’t cooperate with the police, no matter what they promise you, because they will deport you...”
The ICE declined to comment on a particular case, but added that they did not deport everyone without analysis.
