$ 10 million scam: Amazon couriers steal goods from customers and sell them again on the retailer’s website
Although Amazon is now approaching such an ultramodern way of servicing customers as delivering goods with drones, the company’s classic delivery system is still worth working.
According to the FBI, two Amazon courier drivers participated in a criminal scheme that brought a group of fraudsters 10 million dollars, writes Hypebeast.
According to the information collected, the couriers are part of a larger group of scammers who transferred goods stolen from customers to two merchants posing as pawn shops. From these “pawn shops,” the items were sent back to Amazon warehouses, where they were stored until sold online.
To return goods to Amazon, couriers delivered parcels from a warehouse south of Seattle to the post office from where they were dispatched, or transported parcels to Seattle / Tacoma International Airport.

The FBI is awaiting documentation from Amazon to determine the extent of the theft - the group is known to have sold millions of dollars worth of stolen goods on Amazon.com. Over the past six years, the crime boss has made at least $10 million from selling goods on Amazon, including $30 worth of goods stolen by one of his drivers in less than a year, the bureau said. The second driver is accused of stealing more than $000 worth of packages.
Amazon officials said the company does not tolerate fraud.
“Upon learning that an investigation was carried out against two freelance drivers, we cooperated with law enforcement agencies and provided them with the requested information. It is strictly forbidden to sell non-genuine or stolen goods in our store. If sellers do not comply with these requirements, we take action,” the statement said.
