Tesla will continue to pay salaries to employees who decide to go to war in Ukraine
According to an email Tesla sent to employees in Europe, the Middle East and Africa on March 7, Ukrainian Tesla employees who are asked to return to Ukraine to defend their country will receive a salary for at least three months. CNBC.
“For all Tesla employees who are citizens of Ukraine and who have been asked to return to Ukraine for military service as reservists, we will maintain their jobs and salaries for 3 months,” the letter says.
It is not clear from the email whether this benefit will be extended to employees in North America and other countries.
In three months, Tesla plans to reassess the Russian-Ukrainian war and the situation of its employees to decide what else they need.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on reservists to defend the country back in February, ahead of an expected invasion.

In an email sent on the 12th day after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Musk thanked Tesla employees for helping SpaceX, an aerospace enterprise, roll out the Starlink satellite Internet service in Ukraine.
“Tesla has teamed up with SpaceX to provide expanded coverage for its Starlink services to help create an alternative Internet infrastructure,” the letter said.
The Tesla Energy team assembled and provided lithium-ion battery-powered energy storage systems, known as Tesla Powerwalls, to operate Starlink equipment in Ukraine.
Tesla employees used inverters and charging cables donated by local Tesla certified installers to assemble the Starlink and Powerwall systems. They also made AC cables from scrap metal at a new Tesla plant being built outside of Berlin to power Starlink equipment.
Although Tesla does not operate in Ukraine, the company said in an email that about 5000 Tesla owners in the country and other EV drivers can get free vehicle charging at some of its Supercharger stations in Poland, Hungary and Slovakia.
Tesla is not the only company that is trying to help Ukraine and that is closing its Russian-related business.
Automakers such as General Motors and Ford in the US quickly suspended their business in Russia after the aggressor invaded Ukraine. Stellantis on March 2 announced the creation of a support team that will work around the clock to monitor the health and safety of 71 company employees in Ukraine.
