In Australia, a fire plane crashed with Americans on board
Three Americans died in the crash of a fire plane in Australia. Writes about this with the BBC.
A large transport plane and crew disappeared in the south of New South Wales at 12:30 on January 23 local time (21:30 on January 22 in New York).
The cause of the disaster is not yet known.
The head of the province, Gladys Beredzhiklyan, said that the plane crashed in the Snowy Mountains, south of the capital of Canberra.
“Today we see again that the fire season is far from over,” he stated and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
Three crew members were not identified, but officials said they were U.S. residents.

The state fire service said the crew was hired by contract to deal with fires in Australia.
The large Hercules C-130 water jet was brought in to fight fires in the region.
Across the country, amid high temperatures and strong winds, more than 80 fires are blazing.
It is unclear what caused the plane crash, said Commissioner Shane Fitzimmons.
