In the US, a bus with children had an accident: there are dead and 40 victims. VIDEO
Early on Monday, a bus crash occurred on a highway near Benton, Arkansas: one child died and forty more people were injured, also mostly children.
The charter bus was transporting a youth football team home from Texas to Memphis, Tennessee, after a championship game they played over the weekend. At some point, the vehicle left the road and overturned, police said. Authorities received a call at approximately 02:40 local time, writes News 5 Cleveland.
The passengers on the bus were children between the ages of 8 and 10, as well as adults accompanying them, state police spokesman Bill Sadler said.
“When officers arrived on scene, many of the children had already gotten off the bus,” Sadler said. “Some of them were shocked or had minor injuries.”
The injured were taken to hospitals in Benton and Little Rock, about 25 miles northeast of Benton. Sadler said that the two victims of the car accident required the help of medical aviation. One child died.
It seems that the weather did not play a role in the crash, said Sadler. The bus driver was interrogated by the police. Not yet managed to find out who owns the vehicle.
According to Sadler, the cause of the child’s death will be determined by a medical expert.
