Five unusual botanical gardens in America
Not all of us were born in homes with flowerbeds of roses and fragrant plants. But you can always admire the beauty of nature. All lovers of floral landscapes should visit the five most beautiful botanical gardens in the United States. Their list was compiled by the publication Only In Your State.
1. Lewis ginter botanical garden
You will be surprised how such beauty could be placed on 50 acres of this botanical garden. Richmond Botanical Gardens host fun family events such as the Floating Lantern Festival and more. It is open all year round, and visitors can choose between exploring an iconic conservatory unlike any in the region, or strolling through the lovely grounds of the garden.
2. New york botanical garden
A National Historic Landmark right in New York City - the Metropolis Botanical Garden has over a million plants. It is spread over 250 acres. Situated in the Bronx, the Big Apple Botanical Gardens amaze visitors throughout the year. It has picnic areas, indoor and outdoor spaces to explore, and a variety of locations, each with something unique to it.
3. Missouri Botanical Garden
The second largest in North America, the Missouri Botanical Garden was created in 1859. The stunning oasis located in St. Louis is about 80 acres and even has a stylized Japanese garden. Over the years, this oasis has been widely known for its huge variety of plants. It is visited annually by tourists from all over the world.
4. Desert botanical garden
It may surprise you to know that most of America's best botanical gardens are located right in the most popular cities. One of our favorite places to visit in Phoenix is the Desert Botanical Garden, which spans 140 acres of Arizona. Here you can see magnificent cacti and succulents. The garden is known for organizing exhibitions of not only plants, but also butterflies and lanterns throughout the year.
5. Atlanta Botanical Garden
It's small, but you'll love every inch of the 30 acres of Atlanta Botanical Gardens in Georgia. In the garden you can find sculptures made of plants, such as huge camels, peacocks, mermaids, and much more.
