Amazon launches 'treasure van' in US cities that sells only one item

Amazon Treasure Truck moves around the city and sells only one product per day at a discount. Now such a van works in 25 cities of the United States, as well as in the UK. Journalist CNBC Darren Weaver checked how the new Amazon sales method works.

The truck does not travel every day, but on the day when it works, the goods are sold out in a few minutes - at least in San Francisco, where the journalist lives. You can find out when and where the truck will be by subscribing to messages from an online retailer.

The disadvantage is that the truck sells only one product, which has no options of sizes or colors. On the day when the journalist used the service, they sold a hammock complete with fasteners for $ 50. With a regular online purchase, the product cost $ 75.

In addition, the truck can be missed. He makes only a few stops during the day, and if you missed his arrival at the place indicated near your house, then you are out of luck and it is unlikely that you will be able to “catch” him in another part of the city, since he only stands at each place for a few minutes.

If you change your mind and want to return the purchased goods, then you do not need to wait for the truck. Returns can be made using the same procedure as any other product purchased from Amazon.

The journalist assumes that Treasure Truck is unlikely to bring companies greater economic benefits, rather it is an advertising move. There are always a lot of people around the van who simply view it.

Winver says that if there is a truck in your city, then you should try to use the service. Although, according to him, most of the transactions are unlikely to interest you, but maybe you are lucky and the goods you need will be in the van with a good discount.
