Trump convenes a meeting of the Council of National Security due to nuclear tests of the DPRK
US President Donald Trump convenes a meeting of the US National Security Council in connection with the nuclear tests of North Korea.
This was reported by the press secretary of the White House, Sarah Sanders, writes CBS.
"President Trump will meet with his national security advisers today (September 3) regarding North Korea," Sanders said.
3 September DPRK conducted a test of nuclear weapons, the power of which, according to estimates, could be several times larger than the atomic bomb dropped on the Japanese city of Nagasaki in 1945, writes the Korean agency Yonhap.
The power of the explosion was estimated by meteorologists, starting from the force of an artificial earthquake, with an epicenter at the northwestern nuclear test site in the DPRK. The earthquake was concentrated approximately 200 meters north of the North's Punggye-ri nuclear test site. Explosive shocks were also felt in South Korea.
North Korea also confirmed that the shocks were caused by the “successful testing of a hydrogen bomb designed for installation on an intercontinental ballistic missile.”
According to the Korean Meteorological Administration, the magnitude of shocks amounted to 5,7 points. At the moment, this artificial earthquake due to the test of a bomb in the DPRK is the most powerful. After previous tests in September 2016, the magnitude was 5,0 points, in January 2016, 4,8 points.
According to experts, an increase in the earthquake's recorder by an 0,2 point means that the energy released from a nuclear explosion increases about two times. In this sense, the power of the tested September 3 bomb is estimated at about 50 kilotons, which is equal to 50 000 tons of TNT.
In turn, the power of the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki in 1945 was 20 kilotons, and on Hiroshima - 13 kilotons.
It was the sixth nuclear test of the North Korean regime. Previous tests took place in 2006, 2009, 2013 and twice in 2016 year.
In his Twitter microblogging, Trump called North Korea’s new nuclear tests “hostile and dangerous” for the United States.
“North Korea conducted a major nuclear test. Their words and actions continue to be very hostile and dangerous to the United States,” Trump wrote.
He also called the DPRK "a rogue country that has become a big problem and threat to China." He also criticized the insignificant, in his opinion, attempts by the Chinese side to resolve the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
“South Korea has realized, as I said, that their negotiations to appease North Korea will not work, they only understand one thing,” the US president wrote.
The head of the White House added that the United States is considering the option of suspending any trade relations with countries doing business with the DPRK.
In connection with the current situation, South Korea declared its readiness to deploy in its territory the most powerful tactical weapons from the United States.
About this after a meeting of the Security Council of South Korea, said the adviser to the President of the country Jong Yi Yong, writes Yonhap.
According to him, South Korea and the United States will soon discuss the deployment of the most powerful tactical American weapons.
“President Moon Jae-in has instructed the Korea-U.S. alliance to develop a response to counter North Korea's reckless provocations and be prepared for future provocations,” Yong said.
The South Korean president also said that he would not allow the DPRK to continue developing nuclear and missile technologies, Seoul intends to seek new UN Security Council sanctions against Pyongyang.
Recall 29 July 2017 of the year North Korea announced that it successfully launched an intercontinental ballistic missile Hwasong-14. According to the head of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un, the test was aimed at "giving a stern warning to the United States." China called on the DPRK not to provoke the world with new tests.
According to officials in Washington, the DPRK’s new missile test has demonstrated that the regime in Pyongyang may have a means of delivering a nuclear warhead to most of the mainland territory of the United States.
2 August US President Donald Trump signed a law that tightened sanctions against North Korea, and on August 5 the UN Security Council unanimously approved the introduction of new sanctions against Pyongyang for the development of a nuclear missile program.
From now on, North Korea is forbidden to export coal, iron, lead and seafood. The accounts of the Bank of Foreign Trade of the DPRK are frozen, the North Korean maritime vessels violating UN resolutions are barred from entering the ports of all states.
A proposal to introduce new sanctions against North Korea was made by the United States. In Washington, they explained this with the response to the launch of intercontinental ballistic missiles by Pyongyang.
After the imposition of a sanction North Korea promised cruel revenge on the States. In response, Trump promised to respond to North Korea with “fire and rage,” the DPRK in turn threatened to launch a missile strike on the territory of the US Pacific island of Guam.
Due to the current situation The Pentagon has prepared a plan for a preemptive strike on North Korean missile targetswhich will be inflicted if US President Donald Trump gives the appropriate order.
After that, the DPRK began to threaten to destroy different regions of the United States.
