Savchenko went on a hunger strike due to the “inaction” of the Ukrainian authorities
People's Deputy from the Batkivshchyna Party Nadezhda Savchenko, who returned to Ukraine after almost two years of detention in a Russian pre-trial detention center, she went on a hunger strike due to the “inaction of the authorities” regarding the release of captured Ukrainians.
“When the issue of prisoner exchange was transferred to the political plane, politicians began to fight for their own political dividends and glorify themselves at the expense of prisoners more than worrying about them,” Savchenko noted.
As the Ukrainian pilot stated at a press conference in Kyiv, she intends to go on a hunger strike “until the day of a positive result.” At the same time, answering a clarifying question, she said that she would begin a hunger strike tomorrow, since “I already had breakfast today.”
“It was easy to promote only on me, while I was sitting, I was good material, because I was indestructible material. Now it’s easy to criticize me, because I do and say unpopular things for the sake of results,” said the military deputy. “I proposed real actions to the president. We need to start giving people away first. They don't care about your children. Go to Bankovaya and demand your rights. Let's not forget about our children. And you, mothers in the occupied territories, go to the bandits and demand to give up your children. Now I will fight as I fought for my liberation.”
In addition, Savchenko voiced a plan for a “popular” reboot of the country based on the model of electing the Pope.
“In the next elections, the people elect 100 people’s representatives, whose task is to write the Constitution of Ukraine behind closed doors for a reasonably limited period, similar to a conclave when electing the Pope. These elected representatives are elected without the right to ever be elected to power in the future,” she noted.
According to the representative of Batkivshchyna, deputies must write out block laws for all life systems of the country. The laws cannot be changed; they will be adopted after a popular referendum.
During the captivity in Russia, Savchenko twice went on a hunger strike.
