17 people died from an unknown infection in two states
Michigan became the second state in which territory death from a disease is registered. A little earlier, an outbreak of infection was recorded in Wisconsin. There, the disease is more widespread, it has already claimed 17 lives. And the total number of infected at the moment exceeded 50 people.
The first fatal case in the state was registered in November last year. Doctors have not yet determined the cause.
It is known that infection bacteria spread in water and soil. However, they do not cause infection of the body and are not transmitted by contact with an infected person. According to one version, the infection could hit patients through medical equipment, for example, through feeding tubes or probes.
The national Center for Disease Control and Prevention believes that there was a “genetic hallmark.”
