Ukrainian court obliges Facebook to provide investigators with access to the US office

The district court of the capital of Ukraine ordered the administration of the popular social networking site Facebook to provide access to the company's headquarters in Menlo Park, USA, and London, United Kingdom, with the right to seize documents.

Appropriate decision was published in the government registry 18 November. It is a question of a criminal investigation of a case of premeditated murder committed by a group of persons.

During the investigation, investigators reportedly need to access data from a certain Facebook account that has already been deleted from the social network.

Facebook administration is required to provide access to things and documents that are held by the network administration in the US and UK addresses: 10 Brock Street, NW1 3FG London, United Kindom and 1601 Willow Road Menlo Park, CA 94025 United States.

In the event that Mark Zuckerberg’s company refuses to provide physical access to the documents required by the investigators, the court may decide to conduct a search on Facebook in order to seize the documents.

Editorial Ukrainian IT-magazine AIN.ua appealed to the Facebook office for comment, however, the company's response to the Kiev court decision is not yet known.

In 2015, a wave of searches in IT companies swept across Ukraine. Among other things, in October, law enforcement officials visited the central Kiev office of the game development company Lucky Labs with a staff of more than 300 people and five offices around the world.
