9 products that are most profitable to buy at Costco

Costco is one of America's favorite places to shop. The chain was recently ranked second among U.S. grocery stores in the annual Retail Preference Index. This is impressive considering that shopping at Costco typically requires a $60 per year membership. However, more than 94 million Americans pay annually for this opportunity. Here are nine products that shopping experts say are the best at Costco.

What you need to know: Costco often sells products in bulk, so before you buy a large batch of food, you should understand that you will have time to eat all this volume before the expiration date, writes CNBC.

If, for example, you live alone or together, a huge container of spinach is unlikely to be a good idea to buy, even if it costs only 4,99 dollars.

Charlene Haugsven, founder of MyFrugalAdventures.com, offers three expert tips:

• buy only what your family actually uses;
• focus on long-term storage products.

1. Bakery products

According to Haugsven, Costco products cannot be compared with homemade cakes, pastries and cheesecakes, but puff cakes for parties are popular. According to a local store, Costco sells half a puff pie, which is enough for 48 people, for just 18,99 dollars.

Haugsven says Costco Bakery goes beyond just desserts and recommends their bagels. The store sells Einstein Bros. bagels. $5,99 per dozen. “You can easily pay twice as much at bagel stores,” she says.

2. Cheese

Basic cheese blocks such as cheddar and mozzarella are sold at Costco at a good price. According to him, you will pay at least 3 dollars less than for the same cheeses in a regular grocery store. 4. Frozen Fruits

Frozen fruit is expensive, especially if you buy organic. But not at Costco. “No one here can beat the record of low prices for organic frozen fruit,” says Haugsven. The chain also offers a wide selection of fruit, from bags of mixed berries to pineapples—ideal if you're a morning smoothie lover.

The Kirkland Organic Frozen Kirkland 4-pound package costs $ 4,95. Frozen strawberries from Aldi and Trader Joe are priced at 2,69 dollars per pack in 12 ounces.

5. Olive oil

If you use olive oil regularly, try the organic one from Costco. "It's really good quality at a really good price," says John Karolefsky, a grocery store analyst and editor of Grocery Stories.

ConsumerLabs, an independent consumer testing organization, analyzed 10 brands of popular olive oils to determine which one is the best and most useful. He called Kirkland's first-grade organic olive oil, priced at $ 16,99, one of the top three, surpassing more expensive brands such as Colavita and Newman's Own.

7. Snacks and snacks

Typically, snacks are cheaper at Costco when the store offers coupons. “They won’t tell you the price, they’ll just say minus $3 on Cheez-Its, but the price benefit can be very noticeable,” the expert says.

This is especially useful if you need snacks for school lunches. Costco is asking $2,70 for a 45-count box of 1,5-ounce Cheez-Its and $2,50 for a 65-count box of Kirkland granola bars. That means the price of Cheez-It drops to $9,79 and the bars drop to $7,29.

Target sells a box of Cheez-Its of 20 pieces for 6,99 dollars and a box of granola bars with chocolate Quaker Chewy chips for 10 pieces for 2,49 dollars.

8. Vanilla

One of the best deals at Costco is vanilla extract. Costco sells Kirkland Pure Vanilla Extract for $26,99 for a 16-ounce bottle. Cooking site Kitchn also calls it the best choice for the best price.

The Kirkland brand will cost about half the price offered by other stores. Acme, ShopRite, and Stop & Shop all sell an 8-ounce bottle of McCormick Pure Vanilla Extract for $ 22,49.

The good news is that vanilla can be stored in this form almost indefinitely. The main thing is to keep it in a dark, closed place.

9. Wine
