59-year-old Texas resident bitten by wild pigs

In Texas, wild pigs attacked and killed a woman near the house in which she worked.

According to the Chambers County Sheriff, the woman was found dead after several wild pigs attacked her at dawn near the house of an elderly couple whose woman worked as a nurse, writes CNN. The couple lives in a private house with a large garden in Anahuak.

59-year-old Kristin Rollins didn’t come to work at her usual Sunday time, the sheriff’s office said. 84-year-old homeowner discovered that her body was lying in the yard between her car and the house.

As the site clarifies МКArriving on a call to 911, law enforcement officers found multiple injuries in the body of Christine Rollins characteristic of a wildlife attack. The original version was that the woman was attacked by dogs. However, with a more careful examination of the wounds, the forensic expert came to a different conclusion, and a record appeared in the investigation documents: the cause of death was "blood loss as a result of the attack of wild pigs."

Sheriff Brian Hawthorne said at a press conference on Monday, November 25 that "several pigs" attacked Rollins when she arrived at work. This probably happened between 6 and 6: 30 in the morning, when it was still dark outside.

“At 35 years old, I will tell you that this is one of the worst things I have ever seen,” Hawthorne admitted to reporters.

Apparently, a herd of wild pigs wandered into the area at night, and for some reason attacked the nurse who had come to the house. According to Hawthorne, death from an attack by wild pigs is a very rare incident. In the United States so far, only six such cases have been recorded.

Jefferson County Medical Examiner Sellie Rivers determined that Rollins was attacked by different pigs because of the different sizes of bite marks on her body, Hawthorne said.

According to the Texas State Department of Parks and Wildlife, mature feral pigs can weigh between 100 and 400 pounds (45-181 kg).

The sheriff noted that wild pigs are a problem throughout Texas, but attacks on humans are rare. The neighbors of the elderly couple said that they had recently complained about wild pigs in the area: they came in packs to visit pastures and even in the courtyards of apartment buildings and tear up beds, flowerbeds and lawns there, even destroy small farm buildings in search of food.
