The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, for its Marketplace program, has studied more than 100 samples taken in the cabin of an aircraft on 18 flights of three air carriers. Samples were taken from seat belts, folding tables, head restraints, toilet handles and pockets on the backs of chairs. What exactly the scientists found

Microbiologist Keith Warriner looked for yeast, mold, E. coli and other pathogens in samples. The results were not the most pleasant.

Yeast and mold have been found in most salons. This means that the surface was washed either badly or rarely.

E. coli, causing diarrhea, nausea and pain in the abdomen, found in the pockets of chairs and on the headrests. And she got there with feces.

According to flight attendants, people leave not only smartphones and sandwiches in their pockets, but also used diapers and tampons, condoms and bags with vomiting.

Also in the salons were found staphylococci, including on folding tables.

Even on the blankets of one of the air carriers sealed in cellophane they found yeast fungi, mold and bacteria.

What is the rating of the most dangerous places

1. Headrest. Here found the most bacteria, including E. coli.
2. Pocket on the back of the chair ranked second in the number of pathogenic microorganisms. E. coli coexisted with a bunch of mold.
3. The door handle to the toilet - the third place in the number of aerobic bacteria. Also found hemolytic, which include staphylococcus.
4. The folding table was rich in mold and hemolytic microorganisms.
5. Safety belt. Here was the least aerobic bacteria. Mold and the yeast was present on one third of the samples.

Why are the planes so dirty

There are several reasons. Firstly, the cabin crew simply do not have enough time to properly disinfect the surface. Less than 15 minutes are allocated for cleaning between flights.
