27,2 million Americans to skip or postpone work because of the Game of Thrones finale

27,2 million Americans will miss work entirely, be late, work remotely or be less productive than usual on Monday, May 20, due to the release of the final episode of Game of Thrones, writes news.liga.net. These are the results of a survey conducted by The Harris Poll, according to personnel management company Kronos Incorporated.
10,7 million working Americans who plan to watch the final series say they’ll skip work to witness the Iron Throne and celebrate it or cope with negative emotions.
5,8 million people, who usually work on Sunday evening, are going to act differently this time. About 2,9 million plan to be late for work on Monday morning, and 3,4 million will work remotely, although usually do not.
The remaining several million people indicated that watching the Game of Thrones finale would affect their work schedule and/or productivity in some way.

The latest season of Game of Thrones has already undermined the productivity of 20,4 million Americans, a study says.
4,4 million employees missed work specifically for re-viewing episodes.
7,3 million employees admitted to taking sick leave or a day off to miss work on Monday precisely because they were watching Game of Thrones that night.
“Many fans of the series say that even while working, their thoughts are still in Westeros: 12,7 million employees admitted that they spend five or more hours a week discussing, reading or posting information online about Game of Thrones, while another 16,5 million said they spent between one and four hours doing the same,” it said.
The survey was conducted online from 7 to 9 in May 2019 of the year among 1090 employed adult Americans aged 18 and older.
