25 the happiest cities in the USA

Each person strives for his own happiness. Very often, to be happy, it is enough to love the place where you live. Edition National Geographic, together with Gallup, publishes a new study: "25 of the happiest cities in the United States."

According to the publication, Boulder, Colorado, where stunning mountain trails and "sustainable city development" support a thriving community, has won the coveted title of the happiest city in the country.

To create this list National Geographic and Gallup polled almost 250 thousand people. The questions concerned the emotional, physical and financial well-being of the inhabitants of the country.

The final ranking includes cities across the country, ranging from Midwest cities such as Minneapolis and Ann Arbor, Michigan to southern ones such as Austin, Texas and Naples, Florida.

But what exactly makes these cities so happy? A common factor was the ability to ride a bike, proximity to water and the surrounding landscapes, said Bettner in National Geographic.

“There is a high correlation between bikeability and happiness in the city,” Boettner said in the release. “In Boulder, you're more likely to hear a cyclist whistle than a piercing siren, compared to places like Dallas, Tallahassee or Los Angeles.”
