18 quirks in American culture that Americans don't even notice
In any culture there are phenomena that seem strange, illogical or bizarre to representatives of another nationality, although the representatives of these cultures themselves do not see anything special in these traditions.
Edition Buzz Feed gathered a few examples of American habits and traditions, which are very surprising to foreigners.
1. Restaurants always serve water with ice, regardless of the weather. Whether it's cold or hot outside, it doesn't matter. But what’s really strange is when there is significantly more ice in the glass than water itself.
2. Air conditioning is always and everywhere, and at full power.
3. Portions in restaurants are huge. One dish intended for the average American, enough for a whole family of foreigners.

4. Every three minutes the waiters come up and ask if you are comfortable, whether you have tasty food, etc. Every three minutes.
5. American cars are just gigantic. Especially in comparison with European brands. By the way, the highway is also huge.

7. You are always asked for an identity card in a bar or in a shop if you buy beer, although it is obvious that you are in 30 for years.
8. Money notes are very similar to each other. It is difficult to distinguish, for example, one-dollar and five-dollar bills, because they are all the same size and color.
9. Prices always indicate excluding taxes, so after looking at a bargain, you may encounter an unpleasant surprise at the box office.
10. Pharmacies sell candy, soda, cigarettes and beer.
11. Strangers are constantly smiling at you. On the street, in supermarkets, in public toilets - everywhere.
12. Many go to clothes for fitness, although they are not in the gym. And in the slates - not on the beach.
13. Often in the supermarket you can see people in pajamas. Because they don’t care what you think about them.
14. The TV ad breaks are terribly long. For example, the 40-minute episode of a series with advertising takes a whole hour.
15. Shops and restaurants are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
16. American flags are everywhere. Apparently, in case you forgot what country you are in.
17. Americans constantly drink coffee or eat on the go. It seems wild to many foreigners, because they are used to enjoying a drink or a meal, sitting somewhere in a pleasant place, and not intercepting while running.
18. Watering the soul is completely unregulated.
