15-year-old daughter of a millionaire died on a plane because of a sandwich

The daughter of the British millionaire, founder of the network of toys Wow Toys Nadima Ednan-La Perouse died in an airplane after eating a regular sandwich from the Pret a Manger store, writes Daily Mail.

15-year-old Natasha died after a snack with an ordinary sandwich with artichokes, olives and a tapenadet baguette on board British Airways.

The girl carefully examined the sandwich for the presence of allergens, but it turned out that the sesame seeds were inside the bread and were not visible.

A schoolgirl bought a sandwich at the Pret a Manger store and ate before leaving for Nice. In the plane, the girl had an acute allergic reaction with red spots on the skin. Her father gave her two shots of an antiallergic drug, but this did not help. After that, the man made another injection, but there was no effect again. Natasha died in a clinic in Nice from cardiac arrest.

In London, the police will conduct an interrogation, where the Natasha family, the Pret manager and the head of safety of the British food chain will speak.

“There are now three of us in the family: my wife, son and I are trying to adapt to life without our beloved daughter. It is a daily battle and the pain is indescribable. Everything we say and do reminds us that she is not with us: her empty bedroom, her school uniform hanging in the wardrobe, her bag packed for her vacation in Nice. We can’t stand it,” says the girl’s father.

After this incident in the UK, they may tighten the rules for labeling products containing allergens.

Sesame is one of the 14 allergens that, according to British law, should be listed on the packaging of pre-packaged foods. But if the products are prepared on site, it is not necessary to indicate the presence of an allergen on the package. That is what happened in the case of Pret. Instead, there are signs on the shelves of Pret stores that warn customers of potential allergies and advise them to check the food composition of their staff.
