NASA asks private entrepreneurs to fly to the moon and bring soil from there
The American space agency NASA announced a competition among private companies that could fly to the moon and deliver samples of dust and soil from there to Earth. Writes about it "Voice of America".
NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstein said NASA “will acquire lunar soil from a commercial supplier. It's time for regulatory clarity in the space mining and trade. ”
“The demand for lunar soil among scientists is very high. Almost all of the lunar material that NASA has now was collected during the Apollo program,” the publication of the Michigan Institute of Technology (MIT) commented on the announcement.
The price of 50-500 grams of such soil ranges from $ 15 to $ 000, so the main motivation for the company to participate in this program will not be money, but the opportunity to master a new field of activity, MIT experts say.

As part of the Artemis program, NASA plans to return a man to the moon by 2024, and then deliver a manned mission to Mars.
“We'll use what we learn on and around the Moon to take the next giant leap—sending astronauts to Mars,” Bridenstine added.
The Artemis program also envisages a series of agreements on the use of space resources. The rules will be similar to those in the oceans, Bridenstyn noted earlier.
