Top 5 US states for parenting
Minnesota, for the second year in a row, has been recognized as the best US state for the development and upbringing of children.
This is evidenced by the results of a study conducted Annie E. Casey Foundation.
The study was conducted in all 50 states of the United States in order to determine in which of them the atmosphere is most favorable for the full development of children.
The methodology included a state assessment based on four main criteria: economic, health conditions, quality of education, and environment (communities living in these states).
The results showed that the northern states are more favorable for the development and upbringing of children than the southern ones.
The best states for raising children:
4. New Hampshire;
At the bottom of the list were:
49. New Mexico;
New Mexico has the highest rate of children living in poverty - 30%. For comparison, only 15% of children in Minnesota live below the poverty line.
Other important research findings:
- 10% of teenagers in Mississippi do not attend school and do not work, which is more than two times higher than the corresponding figure in Minnesota;
- Only 23% fourth graders are read in New Mexico, which is 12% lower than the national average.
