11 strange professions that can be mastered in the US

Science is developing rapidly all over the world, new specialties and industries are emerging. Some of them may surprise a lot, although perhaps it will be a way for someone to find themselves.

Edition 101hotnews collected a selection of strange professions that can be mastered in the United States.

1. Witchcraft

The School of Witchcraft in California (Gray School of Wizardry) was opened by its current director, Overtone Söll-Revenhart. The institution positions itself as a non-profit organization offering online education. The school has 16 faculties in which more than 450 disciplines are taught. The school’s website says that this is the first institution for the study of magic, which was officially recognized by the educational body.

2. Packaging

The University of Michigan offers the first educational program to master the science of packaging. The school is famous for its high-quality training programs for specialists in this field, as well as for conducting research aimed at improving the science and packaging technology.

3. Adventure

An adventure degree from the University of Plymouth will provide knowledge on how to use nature and outdoor adventures to develop and self-knowledge for adults and children. The program combines classroom work, internship and practical experience.

4. Lawn management

The University of Michigan offers a program to explore the rapidly growing industry of urban plantings. After graduation, specialists can work with lawns, sports fields and stadiums, as well as with parks.

5. Science of solutions

The specialty “Science of Solutions” was developed at Indiana University and deals with quantitative methods that simplify business decision making. Students will learn how to solve problems in such areas as marketing, information technology, finance, management, etc., using a number of mathematical techniques, including optimization techniques, computer modeling, decision analysis, artificial intelligence, and others.

6. Playing the bagpipes

In 1990, Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania founded the world's first program for a degree in playing bagpipes. The course focuses not only on music, but also on the history and culture associated with bagpipes.

7. Cutting meat

It’s hard to imagine, but you can get an academic degree in meat cutting; moreover, several educational institutions offer a program for obtaining a corresponding specialty. Students are taught the reception, cutting and packaging of meat, as well as how to evaluate its quality and certify butchers. Institutions offering this program include Bay de Noc Community College in Michigan, Hinds Community College in Mississippi and Eastern Oklahoma College.

8. Bowling

When Vincennes University in Indiana launched the bowling program in 1970's, its main purpose was to teach students how to work with pinsetters. Over time, this became irrelevant, and the university added programs for management, customer service, marketing and budgeting for bowling clubs to the specialty.

9. Funeral science

The study of funeral science is available at the University of the District of Columbia and is a program to provide comprehensive education about the burial and the training of specialists in the organization of funerals.

10. Study cannabis

Oaksterdam University in California offers several varied cannabis programs. Students can choose from the following courses: Cooking with Cannabis, Careers in the Cannabis Business, History of Marijuana, Methods of Swallowing Marijuana, etc.

11. Citrus study

A degree in citrus fruits can be obtained at Florida Southern College. The program provides theoretical and practical classes on the cultivation of citruses, as well as on the study of inter-branch relations for this sphere.
