One US state offers 10 thousand dollars for moving there

Vermont will pay 10 000 dollars to workers who want to move to live in this state.

Vermont — picturesque, but sparsely populated state. The population of the region is aging, so officials are trying to attract more workers and taxpayers. To this end, the authorities have developed a plan to attract young workers. New residents are reimbursed up to 5000 dollars a year for two years for moving and expenses associated with remote work.

The Remote Work Grants Program has received thousands of requests and has already exhausted its first 125 000 dollars. According to the report, the state still has 375 000 dollars allocated for the program.

“People are leaving megacities and moving to rural areas and small towns, simply settling around the state. This is a great result. ” — reports Joan Goldstein, commissioner for the Vermont Department of Economic Development.

In order to qualify for the program, new Vermont residents must confirm that they work remotely outside the state.

People who have already taken advantage of the program include software developers, digital designers, financial professionals, book editors, and architects.

The state is working on yet another program aimed at encouraging people who move to Vermont to get jobs there. This program will pay 5000 dollars a year or 7500 dollars when moving to the countryside to those who meet the requirements.

“Now we are working with enterprises to disseminate information about this so that they can use it to attract new employees, — says Goldstein. “The Remote Worker Grant has really helped people, so we’re glad incentives like this are being extended.”

Vermont is not the only place in the United States that offers to pay people to move there. Cities like Tulsa, Oklahoma; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Hamilton, Ohio, offered money to new residents. Other cities, such as Lincoln, Kansas and Marna, Iowa, provide land for free for new residents to build homes.
