Today, the new report confirms that many, although not all disciplines in the field of STEM, have high-paying jobs, while some disciplines in the arts and social sciences provide more modest options for further employment.

In Bankrate's analysis, petroleum engineering was indeed the most profitable, with average earnings $20 above the next place.
