Autumn is the period when rodents become more active. Edition Orkin made a rating of American cities that are most affected by the invasion of rats.

A study to determine the number of rodents in the city was conducted from 15 September 2016 of the year to 15 September of 2017, and included checks on both residential and non-residential premises.

The first lines, like a year ago, took Chicago and New York. Los Angeles also entered the top three, displacing Washington, DC.

According to the National Pest Control Association, more than 20 of millions of rodents annually invade the homes of Americans.

To help people avoid the health risks that these pests can bring, experts recommend taking these steps:

• Inspect the house inside and outside for holes and cracks along the baseboards and walls. The faster the rodents show up, the better.
• Check out possible places where rodents may be hiding outside the house. Usually they choose a hidden, dark, warm and hard-to-reach place.
• Block gaps under the door or in other places to block the penetration of rodents inside.
• Store food properly by holding it in tightly closed containers protected from rodents. Otherwise, the rats may smell food and try to get to the food.
• Quickly remove crumbs or spilled food substances that may attract rodents.
• Reduce the number of trees and bushes in the immediate vicinity of the house, from where they can access the building.
