If you're looking for a new home, Niche.com recommends McChord, Oklahoma. The platform analyzed housing costs and expenses, real estate market trends, crime rates, school quality, and local taxes in thousands of communities across the country, and McChord stood out on several key indicators.

Located in northeastern Oklahoma, about an hour and a half from Tulsa and Oklahoma City, McChord is a small town with a population of less than 2000. According to Niche.com, it "has a mix of suburban and rural elements."

McChord scored highly in the following areas: cost of living, housing affordability, public schools, family friendliness, and job availability. The median home value in McChord is $202,400, about half the national median of $405,000. About 86% of residents own their homes.

Niche.com also included Larkin Charter Township in Midland County, Michigan, in second place. This small community of about 5000 people was also recognized as the best suburb in the US for home buying. According to Zillow, home prices there are in the $200,000 range.

In third place is Pine Grove Mills in central Pennsylvania. This historic town dates back to the 18th century and borders Rothrock State Park. Massaca, Kentucky, and Williamstown, West Virginia, round out the top five.

The list of the top ten best places to buy a home primarily consists of affordable communities in the Midwest and South. However, there is one geographic exception. St. John's, Arizona, ranked seventh, received high marks for climate, family-friendly environment, public schools, and housing affordability. The city has a population of approximately 3500, and the median annual household income is $101,749.
