San Francisco residents will be able to receive free higher education
All residents of San Francisco will receive free higher education. Residents guarantee admission to urban colleges. This was stated by the mayor of the city, reports usatoday.com.
Reforming the local education system was possible thanks to the real estate tax. About $ 5,4 million should go to the city treasury. Local authorities are planning to spend these funds on a new program to provide free higher education.
All residents of the city who lived in San Francisco for a year will be able to get an education. Anyone can apply, regardless of their income.
First of all, the mayor proposes to give the opportunity to enroll those who have low incomes. Such students will receive a bonus of $500 per year. Those who are not going to study all day will receive only $200.
Employees of the local Department of Education are hoping that the new initiative will be supported by schoolchildren and all residents of San Francisco.
