A woman died from poisoning after having lunch at a Michelin-starred restaurant.
46-year-old Spaniard Maria Jesus Fernandez Calvo with her family and friends celebrated the birthday of her husband in the fashionable RiFF restaurant, which is located in Valencia (Spain) and is marked by a Michelin star. Maria ordered rice with morel mushrooms.

Similar symptoms, but in a milder form, appeared even in 21 people who dined at the institution, including the spouse Calvo and their ten-year-old son. The woman died the next day. It has not yet been established what has become the immediate cause of death — poisoning or choking, since particles of vomiting could penetrate the lungs of the Spaniards.
A seven-course menu ordered by the family costs 85 euros (96 dollars) per person.
Cooking morel requires careful heat treatment. They can not be eaten raw because of the toxin contained in them. It is also possible that in the restaurant the woman mistakenly filed false morels, which are even more poisonous.
Chef Bernd Knoller expressed his deep condolences in connection with the incident. RiFF got its first Michelin star in 2009 year. This prestigious badge of honor, meaning high quality dishes and service in the institution. Restaurants marked by Michelin are considered the best in the world.
RiFF is closed for the duration of the investigation of this case.
